Abstract

Nowadays everything is about the image and its power, which can be reached in several platforms and formats that are rich in the elements involved and in the interactivity they can provide, when explored. Simple and complex images seek to attract attention in order to inform or persuade in several frameworks. Graphs are one of the privileged forms of the information in an organizational context, for its ability to synthesise information and, therefore, allowing a simpler analysis of complex data. In a time of continuous digital transformation and the numerous possibilities of access to loads of transactional and external data, valuable for management, to have greater acuity allows access to trend information, which will allow the control and support the company’s decision making process - this can be achieved by controlling what is done regarding what has happened and what is happening so that to predict what might happen. This is only possible due to the advance of technological architectures, available today, to support transactional processes and data analysis, via business analytics. The present research work, inspired by the case study methodology of an essentially descriptive and exploratory nature, seeks to study in what way does visualizing data impacts the decision making process and it is carried out in Mecwide, an engineering, procurement and construction company. Based on the data collected, it is possible to draw conclusions, which may reveal more transversal characteristics, that data visualization does have impact on the decision making process, insofar as it drives, assists and supports it.
