The goal of this study was to understand if there were significative differences between the occupational physical security and occupational stress during the first lockdown because of the Covid-19 (in March of 2020) and the current moment of the pandemic (from March to May of 2022) in the Portuguese police force. The data was collected through the application of an online questionary, gathering a sample of 219 participants. Regarding occupational physical security, it was verified a lower feeling of security during the first lockdown than after. The same happened with stress, as participants reported higher levels of occupational stress during the first lockdown than in the present. This security during the first lockdown was also found to be a stress predictor (during the first lockdown and after that). In short, the results suggested that the negative sensations were mostly related to the first lockdown. The results reinforce the high levels of stress this population was exposed during the pandemic, which has important long-term repercussions that need to be discussed, as well as interventions and future prevention.
