Abstract

The ultimate purpose of this paper is to address the topic of vocation according to the words of Benedict XVI for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. This is done after presenting a brief biography of Joseph Ratzinger and having tried to gauge what is said about vocation in Sacred Scripture and then in our days. Pope Benedict XVI, in these messages, presents an approach to this theme marked by grace and an understanding of what vocation itself is. It is said to be a call that springs from the initiative of God’s love, which is grafted onto the Christian faith and invokes listening and hearing this God-Communion in communion; that is,
in the Church. The Church herself, as a whole, is a vocation of mystery and communion, and it is in the Local Churches that normally the time and the space where the vocation is presented as already understood and lived as service and witness.
