Abordagem da agenesia de incisivos laterais superiores em dentisteria operatória

Abstract

Introduction: The diagnosis of agenesis of lateral incisors is increasingly common in clinical practice today. The solution to the aesthetic problem may involve the intervention of Operative Dentistry in a multidisciplinary way, turning the canine in a lateral incisor thereby improving the anterior tooth harmony. Objective: Proposal for an action in addressing superior lateral agenesis clinical cases, based on sequential multidisciplinary aspects of recent advances in dentistry. Demonstrate the potential of today’s technological resources in scientific operative dentistry as an alternative to traditional forms of prosthetic solution. Methods: Presentation and discussion of two clinical cases of maxillary lateral incisors agenesis in the University Clinic of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Centro Regional das Beiras Viseu, which undertook the diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment planning and were presented the success of current methodologies of operative dentistry in relation to other prosthetic solutions. Results: In clinical cases presented where agenesis of lateral incisors was resolved it was taken into account prior hearing of the treatment options of various Dentistry specialties involved: Operative Dentistry, Occlusion, Periodontics, Fixed Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and Implantology. In both cases, where different solutions are presented, we had successfully served its purpose. Conclusion: The use of direct restoration techniques of modern Operative dentistry demonstrates the same high degree of therapeutic success compared to traditional techniques like Prosthetics and Orthodontics. Operative dentistry its methodology in aesthetic reconstruction features a fast, effective, inexpensive, successful and of great satisfaction for the patient.
