According to the World Health Organization (2010), mental health presents itself as "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own ability, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to bring a contribution to their community." It is considered that, throughout the life cycle, all individuals will experience, directly or indirectly, changes to mental health, which may be designated mental health problems. In turn, these, when arranged in grade, significant impact, intensity and may give rise to the diagnosis of a mental disorder specific (Rethink, 2008). At 2006, resources show that 1 in 5 adolescents can develop a mental disorder (OMS, 2010a). In this sense, developing actions to promote mental health, among young people, denotes itself as a necessary and urgent action. The promotion of mental health, has been checking to be effective when they are used the pillars of mental health literacy-based intervention and stigma (Wyn, Cahill, Holdsworth, Rowling Carson, 2000; Rickwood, Cavanagh, Curtis Sakrouge, 2004; Fields, straw, 2010). This study is part of the project "Finding Space to Mental Health", which will run for two years, being that this dissertation only understands the pilot phase of this study. The general objective of this research is to explore the knowledge and the stigma with a group of young people from the 7th grade, as well as to gather information on the relevance and the configuration of the actions to promote mental health, targeted at young people. In order to achieve these objectives, a focus group was held, using a script previously constructed and applied a demographic questionnaire, along eight young. Will be a qualitative oriented data analysis, starting from the references of the young, and based on Content Analysis. Overall, the results show low levels of mental health literacy and performed some prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination behaviors. At the level of actions, young people have shown interest in participating, referring to their relevance based on the probability of potential resources themselves to help the people with mental disorder.
