This investigation aims to theoretically support the exercise of making a short film: a film adaptation of the short story ‘The Dragonfly’, by the Angolan author Ondjaki. The first part explores the concept of short story as a literary genre and its context in the Angolan literature; and is also discussed film adaptation, on a research focused on transposition’s processes of written language into audiovisual medium. The second part consists of the presentation of the short film ‘The Stone’, presenting the entire creative process: from adaptation through the phases of production, directing, editing and post-production. In the last chapter it is presented the Production and Filmmaking File, which includes the Note of Intents of the author and director, and explains the production process of the short film.
