Method: For the adaptation and validation of COH-QOL-Q for the Portuguese culture developed a methodological study, which held the linguistic, conceptual equivalence and evaluation of psychometric the same properties through factorial analysis of principal components with Varimax rotation of items and calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each dimension. Data collection took place from November 2014 to October 2015, from a simple random sample of 337 individuals with ostomy disposal. Results: The Portuguese version of COH-QOL-Q presents adequate psychometric characteristics for this group of ostomy patients (Cronbach α 0.91). The study of the accuracy or reliability of scale identified four dimensions: physical well-being; Psychological well-being; Social welfare and spiritual well-being. In three of the four dimensions of the Portuguese version of Cronbach's alpha values were higher than the original study. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test (KMO = 0.87) and the Bartlett sphericity test (TEB = 12205.149 p <0.001) allowed evaluation of the adequacy of the sample to perform the factor analysis. The subjects in the study refer to an overall level of quality of life of 5.98, 0 = worst quality of life and 10 = better quality of life. Conclusion: COH-QOL-OQ adapted to the Portuguese culture keeps the metric qualities of the original study, considering why a reliable and useful tool for use by professionals.
