Abstract

Adolescents are in a period of transition, in which there are a number of changes (biological, intellectual and psychosocial) and challenges that will shape the individual into adult life. At the same time, the development of scientific reasoning and abstract thinking takes place, which makes this a crucial moment to intervene. Since school is the place where they spend most of the time, it appears as the ideal context for promoting responsible decision-making capacity. Health Literacy emerges as an essential bet, namely in regard to the prevention of disease and promotion of a healthy life. The internship was held in a Community Care Unit in which the community intervention project "To adolesce with know - living a healthy sexuality" was developed, supported by the methodology of Health Planning and in the theoretical framework of Betty Neuman Systems Model (2011). With the diagnosis of the situation, it was identified the need for intervention at the level of "education for sexuality and affections". To identify the knowledge of adolescents in this area, the quantitative method was used, with the application of the “Knowledge Questionnaire on Sexuality" by Carvalho and Pinheiro (2012). The results obtained allowed to establish as a priority the intervention in the the theme of the "STI´ s and HIV/AIDS", as well as contribute to the development of coping strategies related to sexuality and affections. Based on the objectives, activities and goals proposed, it were selected the most appropriate strategies, after which the activities inherent to the project were performed, namely health education sessions, to the two groups that constituted the sample. After its execution, the evaluation was performed, taking into account the indicators and indexes defined, and it was verified that they were reached. It was verified that the health education sessions contributed to the increase in Health Literacy among the adolescents who participated in them, promoting the reinforcement of their flexible lines of defense and promoting a contributory environment for the development of coping strategies, contributing to a future with a healthier sexuality experience. The realization of this project allowed for growth not only at the academic level, but also professional and personal. Competences were acquired and developed, congruent with the academic degree of master and specialist in Community Nursing.
