Abstract

This dissertation deals with the theme of the crime of sexual abuse of children, especially the legal consequences applied to its perpetrators. The investigation carried out aimed at ascertaining whether the penalties currently applied by our Courts, as well as the services provided by DGRSP, have been the most appropriate in the sense of rehabilitating and reinserting child sexual abusers in society. For such, we focused on understanding what leads an individual to commit such an heinous and horrifying act as the consummation of a sexual act with a child under 14 years old. We also addressed the purposes of criminal penalties to finally make our humble contribution to this complexed issue that it is the sexual abuse of children. Basically, we conclude that our law does not yet establish the most adequate solutions to this phenomenon as a result of the lack research on this topic.
