Abstract
Passionate love is considered important for most individuals, allowing for the creation of relationships with romantic partners. Passionate love is described by strong emotions that induce mechanisms different from those observed in friendship relationships. To measure this construct, the Passionate Love Scale (PLS) allows assessing the components of passionate love at a cognitive, behavioral and emotional level. Therefore, in this work, we seek to evaluate the PLS adjustment model for the sample under study, as well as analyze and relate the scale to sociodemographic variables. To this end, an exploratory factor analysis was carried out, followed by a confirmatory factor analysis, as well as correlation and difference tests. A good adjustment model was found for both version A and version B of the PLS. The results obtained in this investigation allowed us to conclude the importance of passionate love in romantic relationships and the relevance of exploring different variables associated with it, such as the duration of the relationship, who is responsible for the end of the relationship, among others. Therefore, this study becomes relevant in the sense that it is possible to acquire information/knowledge on the topic of passionate love in the portuguese context.| Date of Award | 1 Apr 2025 |
