The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between the psychotherapist's perception of the dimensions of the therapeutic alliance, its sociodemographic characteristics and its competence for emotional regulation and differentiation in the context of psychotherapy with children and adolescents. For this, a quantitative analysis of the data collected was performed through a self-report questionnaire, with 40 psychotherapists. The instruments present in the questionnaire intended to evaluate: the psychotherapist's perception of the therapeutic alliance with a specific client; a predetermined set of sociodemographic and professional characteristics of psychotherapists; emotional factors of the psychotherapist, through the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire and the Emotional Differentiation and Reporting Rating Scale. The main results point to an inverse relationship between perception of task (dimension of the therapeutic alliance) and the emotional regulation strategy of cognitive reassessment; a positive association between the perceived goals of the therapeutic alliance, the emotional repertoire and the emotional differentiation of the therapist; an association between two dimensions of the therapeutic alliance and the perception of professional realization and professional competence; an association between professional competence and professional realization; significant differences between genders were found in the emotional repertoire of therapists.
