Abstract

This study had as general objective to verify if the employees of an organization trigger situa-tions of presenteeism, originated by diverse health problems and analyze the impact of these on their productivity (using the Stanford Presenteeism Scale 6 (SPS-6) and its dimensions). It was also sought to determine if and to what extent, socio-professional characteristics could affect the intensity in this phenomenon. A quantitative analysis was performed using an online ques-tionnaire, allowing the sample to be characterized and inquiring about the most frequent health problems. From a sample of 95 individuals in a universe of 1400 employees of the company that operates in the specialized retail sector, the main results indicate the existence of a signifi-cant association between the phenomenon of presenteeism and the various health problems, identifying stress, anxiety, allergies and sinusitis as the most common. In addition, there were differences between the various areas of work of the organization and the phenomenon, clearly highlighting the area of Logistics as the most affected by presenteeism. It was concluded that there is a need to develop more awareness of health problems that specifically affect this area. It is also considered relevant to analyze in more depth this phenomenon and we propose com-plementary approaches to this effect
