This study is integrated into the Economic hardship, parenting styles and child behavior problems project. Its aim was to investigate the relation between the financial anxiety of parents, parenting styles, memories of parenthood and the externalizing behavior of children and adolescents aged between 10 and 18 years. For data collection, an online questionnaire was administered including the Financial Anxiety Scale, the Parental Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire, the Parenting Practice Remembrance Scale and the Children Behaviour Checklist. The sample consisted of 237 participants, living in the various districts of the country. Results showed no association between parents’ financial anxiety and their children’s externalizing behaviors. With regard to parenting styles, both the authoritarian style and the permissive style were positively associated with externalizing behaviors of children. The democratic style presented a negative association with externalizing behaviors of children. In relation to the memories of parenthood, they were positively associated with a democratic style, unlike the memories of rejection and overprotection, which did not show associations with the authoritarian style. The relation between parents’ memories of emotional support and their children’s externalizing behaviors, was mediated by the democratic parenting style
