Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence is currently the dominant topic in business, politics and society as a whole. Since the release of AI-Assistant Chat GPT, AI has become an everyday tool. Software companies have long recognised the potential and are using AI to improve their business, especially in sales. This article analyses the opportunities and challenges of using AI in software sales. The aim is to show which applications are currently being used and where new potential use cases are emerging. The article combines findings from the literature with results from interviews with experts from the software industry. The results show how important it is for companies not only to implement AI in their strategy, but also to align their strategy with the development of AI. However, there are also many advantages that will enable software companies to differentiate themselves even more in the future. Software products can already generate high profits today. However, start-ups in particular often have high sales and marketing costs to establish their products on the market. AI can help to reduce costs and make the company more profitable. The study emphasises the need for AI to withstand increasing competitive pressure. Companies cannot afford to neglect this issue, as it can and will threaten their existence.
