The organizational climate and, in particular, the communication climate have aroused strong interest from researchers in recognizing its impact on people's performance. In the present study, with a sample of 211 Portuguese workers, employed in the most diverse areas and sectors of the market, the current study aimed to understand whether the organizational communication climate could have a moderating effect on the relationship between job characteristics (i.e., demands and autonomy) and well-being atwork (i.e., engagement and burnout). As expected, demands at work had a positive and significant relationship with burnout, while autonomy at work had a negative and significant relationship with burnout. However, contrary to expectations, in the present study, no empirical support was found for the existence of a relationship between autonomy and engagement and the moderating effect of the organizational communication climate in the relationship between job characteristics and well-being at work. Despite this, as expected, there was a positive and significant relationship between autonomy at work and engagement.
