This research is embedded in the work-life balance problem analysis and approached from the perspective of the different generations that integrate the labour market today. The main aim of the exploratory study was to contribute to the knowledge of the needs and / or difficulties in balancing the professional and family dimensions of the participants, but above all to understand if they relate with the generation which they belong to and what influence they have on the psychological well-being of these individuals. The study is based on qualitative methods, including biographical interviews and life stories. Data was collected from a sample of twelve participants, with different professions, who were distributed into three generation groups: Baby Boomer generation, Generation X and Generation Y. Content analysis was guided by the Grounded Theory principles. The results suggest a difference between the concepts of work-family conflict and enrichment, concepts that indicate the psychological well-being, and allowed to obtain a comparative vision between generations, which revealed that the main differences are related to the demanding phases of the family cycle. We present some practical implications of the obtained results, as well as the limitations and the suggestions for future investigation.
