: uma abordagem especializada

Abstract

This report ia a part of the Curricular Unit "Estágio Final e Relatório", included in the 3rd semester of the 16th Master's Degree Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing: Person in Critical Ill Situation, at the Nursing School of the Portuguese Catholic University. The purpose of this report is to explain the path taken to acquire and develop the skills of a master's degree and specialist nurse. This report consists of two distinct parts. The first deals with the exploration carried out by three students from the same course on the topic of interest: "The Comfort Needs of the Family of the Critically Ill Patient". A database search was then carried out, followed by an analysis of the results obtained, in order to explore the topic. The second part of this report consists of an analysis and reflection on the activities and skills developed during the two internships that took place between September and December 2023. The first internship took place in a Intensive Care Unit and the second in a Emergency Unit, both in the Lisbon area. In order for the internships to be successful, a general objective was defined: To develop technical, scientific, ethical and relational skills for providing specialized nursing care to people in critical situations. Subsequently, two specific objectives were defined for each of the internships. This report draws on knowledge related to Afaf Meleis' Transitions Theory, Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and Patricia Benner's Beginner to Expert Model. In addition, the ideas in this report have always been supported by scientific evidence.
