The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning process involves a cultural change in each school. This change can be facilitated by one ICT Coordinator, who is able to assist and encourage colleagues to working solidly and collaborative in integration of ICT in teaching and learning. This study realized, in 2010/2011, in six primary schools in one of the municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, desire to study the role of ICT Coordinator in promoting the use of ICT and analyze their influence on the use of ICT by teachers. This study presents a methodological approach which fits into the paradigm qualitative-quantitative, using the case study. We conducted an interview with each of the six ICT Coordinators of the six schools studied and applied a questionnaire to the teachers of those schools. Perspective triangulation of results, yet done a documentary analysis of official documents related to the school ICT, such as the ICT plan. The results of this study suggest that ICT coordinators realize most of the techniques and pedagogical functions associated to this figure and defined in Despacho n.º 26 691/2005, but sometimes they are requested to execute others functions which aren’t defined in legislation. Lack of skills/training in ICT and the time allocated are seen as obstacles to the performance of their duties. The gender, age and time of service doesn’t seem to influence their performance while his profile and his concepts relation to ICT tend to influence him. Teachers expect these professionals assist in the integration of ICT in the classroom and in adopting new teaching practices.
