Abstract

Throughout the life cycle, the human being goes through several phases from which he seeks to derive satisfaction from his life; however, there are several factors, such as Mindfulness and spirituality, that can influence satisfaction with life, allowing it to be possible to absorb more from daily activities, and also helping to relate to others and to oneself in a in a more balanced way, thus influencing the willingness to forgive and accept the other without resentment. Thus, the objective of this work is to verify if there are differences in relation to the variables of satisfaction with life and forgiveness between people with higher levels of spirituality and who practice some activity, such as Mindfulness, on the one hand, and people with lower levels of spirituality and who do not practice any activity, such as Mindfulness, on the other. In the present, study was applied the Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Spiritual Activities/Meditation Questionnaire, the Philadelphia Mindfulness Scale (PHLMS), the Spirituality Assessment Scale, the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and the Forgiveness Scale (ESP), to a sample of 314 people chosen through the non-probabilistic method. The results of this study show that mindfulness and spirituality are factors that positively influence life satisfaction and willingness to forgive, thus concluding that both practices promote a higher level of awareness and purpose in life, which contributes to a greater balance between body and mind.
