This master's thesis aims to understand the characteristics and circumstances that make Isabelle Mège a "body-object" author through a performative act. For this, studies will be carried out on the extensive universe of the artistic genre of portrait, self-portrait and self-representation. In each of these discussions we will approach their historical context, and combine them with theories of philosophy, photography and psychoanalysis, also explaining the main concepts that differentiate each one of them. Among these concepts we can mention: the matter of the regard, mimesis, narcissism, the nude, performance, objectification, fetishism, narcissism and artistic authorship. After these first three chapters, we will delve further into the issue of the body, performance and narcissism so that we can understand, differentiate and categorize Isabelle Mège's performative act. We will conclude that his act does not specifically fit into any of the three artistic genres mentioned above, but it can be conceptualized as “body-object”. In other words, an active and non-neutral body that participates in the “game” of desire of the scopic drive and can be seen and used as a photographic object, also participating in the authorship of the photographs that were taken of it.
