Abstract

This study aims to analise de predictive validity of some neuropsychological tests related to the driver’s ability demonstrated on a driving simulator test by individuals with cerebral lesions, at Centro de Mobilidade from Centro de Medicina e Reabilitação de Alcoitão. For that purpose, we used a sample of 10 hospitalized individuals. We made an assessment based on battery of neuropsychological tests: cognitive screening, tests of attention, memory, executive functions, praxis, gnosis, abstraction, orientation, adjustment to reality, an Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and as complementary tasks, we used: the dual task, the Trail Making Test - B, and the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure. At the end of this assessment, we made a statistical comparison of the results obtained on these tests with the results of the driving simulator task that these patients had been subjected to. Through the analysis of the correlation between these tests it was possible to verify the existence of a significant correlation. As scientific literature indicated, it was possible to demonstrate the existence of correlations between the TMT-B, the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure, the praxis tests, the similarities, the dual task and the driving simulator tasks. On the other hand, we observed that other expected correlations weren’t true. By these means, we can assure that neuropsychological tests have predictive validity relatively to the driving simulator tasks. Nevertheless, that cannot be said with the intensity we intended because the results aren't strong enough.
