Abstract

This investigation intends to evaluate the effectiveness of the CAPPYC’s prevention program. 748 young secondary-school students participated in this study by fulfilling a questionnaire application about Sociodemographic data, the Cannabis Abuse Screening Test (CAST, 2001), the Cannabis Use Intention Questionnaire (CUIQ, 2013), in which the correspondent module of the European School Survey Project Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD, 2015) was implemented. For the analysis of the statistics we used the SPSS 20.0 treatment. These data were assessed using nonparametric statistics since the typical requirements of normality were not found. Significant differences in attitude, social norm and gravity of drug use and gender were found, as well as significant differences between age and self-efficacy towards abstinence were also found. We have seen significant statistic correlations in all variables in which stronger correlations were those attached to the gravity of drug use and the experiences through life. In the sample at pre and post stage of the control and experimental groups, significant statistics correlations were found involving self-efficacy towards abstinence, though at application of the Cohen test these differences revealed to be weak. Upon evaluation of the efficiency of the program among the population which have already used cannabis in their life, within the control and experimental groups, we’ve detected differences statistically important in terms of attitude in these groups, and after the Cohen test, we came to the conclusion that these differences had a moderate effect. Our results led us to conclude that the universal types of prevention or the ones selected have a different outcome, thus suggesting that larger investment programs in selected drug prevention should be implemented.
