Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Dentistry has increasingly incorporated aesthetic components into its clinical practice, reflecting the appreciation of the smile in the personal image. Oral Rehabilitation is no longer solely focused on restoring function, but instead requires aesthetic results that meet patients´ expectations. In this context, the upper anterior teeth play a dominant role in the smile, being intrinsically linked to its harmony. The main objective is to analyze the anthropometric characteristics and to determine the existence of the Golden Proportion among the upper anterior teeth of the sample under study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Digital models of the maxila obtained through intraoral scanning of 82 individual were analyzed. After importing them into the Blender software, measurements of dental dimensions were taken, namely the width, height and apparent width of dental crowns. The data obtained were subjected to descriptive and inferential analysis, with a statistical significance of p<0,05. RESULTS: Anthropometric analysis demonstrated statistically significant differences in all variables of dental dimensions between biological sexes (p<0,05). Dimensional asymmetries were also demonstrated between contralateral teeth, confirmed by paired sample t-tests. The values of heigth-width ratio of dental crowns were higher than the Golden Standard, which recommends 75% and 80%. Statistically significant differences were reported between the real value and expected value of the apparent widths of dental crowns in all teeth analyzed, which demonstrates the absence of Golden Proportion. CONCLUSIONS: Anthropometric analysis confirmed the existence of sexual dimorphism and asymmetries between contralateral teeth. Although dental aesthetics is related to pre-defined aesthetic standards such as the Golden Standard and the Golden Proportion, these were not observed in the sample under study.| Date of Award | 4 Jul 2025 |
