Introduction: Nowadays, due to the aesthetic demands of patients and the inconveniences presented by conventional orthodontic treatments, the use of aligner systems has increased as a possible treatment for some dental malocclusions. This paper consists of a clinical investigation from the emergence of aligners to the present day. The research is based on the concept, advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications, attachments, consultations, application procedures and care of the existing aligner systems. The main objective is to carry out a survey among dentists and doctors, to find out the degree of perception of knowledge of the different types of aligner systems, in order to know why they use or do not use the system, since the future of orthodontics may follow this path in the medium to long term. Materials and Methods: In order to evaluate the knowledge of the aligner systems, a questionnaire in Portuguese and Spanish was applied through an online link from the Qualtrics system. Results: The present investigation had a total of 254 participants divided into two groups 168 Spanish and 86 Portuguese with an age ranging from 23 years to over 55 years, analysing the knowledge about the dental aligner system among doctors and dentists in the countries of Spain and Portugal. Conclusion: In the present study, not much literature was found that makes the comparison between the doctors and dentists who use the knowledge of the aligner system so the study will allow to know and deepen on the subject.
