Thinking about the twenty-five years of my professional life as a teacher in a Basic School (2nd Cycle) within the areas of Visual Education and Visual and Technological Education is a way of bringing to mind some features, situations and moments that took place during that time. Many things remain undiscovered: the efforts, enthusiasm and joy that were the soul for the several activities and tasks that I have developed, the pleasure I had while teaching my students and taking care of the tasks related to my profession, the time I invested in the personal relations with those I have met and with whom I often shared everyday failures and victories, can’t be, really and totally, written on a piece of paper. When trying to situate and discover one of the most important moments in my ca-reer I dare say that a turning point was the school year 2000/2001 when I attended a Course in Educational Orientation as a postgraduate specialization in the Catholic Univer-sity of Viseu (Universidade Católica de Viseu). That allowed me a good degree of knowl-edge about the evolution of educational politics in our teaching system that I had never been in contact with while graduating. The functions I had to carry out after this formation such as: Coordinator of Class Directors, Vice-President of the Executive Board, Coordinator of the Teachers Depart-ment, Representative in the School Assembly, Vice-President of the General Council, member of the Coordinating Commission of Teachers Assessment and Evaluating Teach-ers, have greatly contributed for entering in the path of professional formation during my life. The text refers to the most important moments of my professional career and to the instability that was felt and lived in the schools when the model of teachers assessment was altered and the Teaching Profession Status (Estatuto da Carreira Docente) was changed through the publication of the following laws: «Decreto-Lei n.º15/2007, de 19 de Janeiro e a regulamentação do processo de avaliação pelo Decreto Regulamentar n.º2/2008, de 10 de Janeiro e as alterações pelo Decreto-Lei nº 75/2010, de 23 de junho, e sua regulamentação pelo Decreto Regulamentar n.º2/2010, de 23 de junho e ainda as alterações sofridas pelo Decreto-Lei n.º41/2012 de 21 de fevereiro e pelo Decreto Regulamentar n.º26/2012 de 21 de fevereiro.»
