Since 2019, there has been an increase in the number of notifications reported on the RASFF portal, the EU's rapid alert system, which translates into a greater need for control and safety of the quality of food products provided to consumers. Over the years, the growing and notorious effects of climate change have been very influential on the topic of "Emerging Risks", since they affect a wide range of foods, from the production stages to the product dispatch stages. In this work, an analysis was made of various hazard categories on the RASFF portal for the year 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, which revealed an increase in the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in food, surpassing the detection of pesticides. In addition, there was a considerable increase in problems relating to genetically modified organisms, compared to the previous year. Finally, it was concluded that no new emerging risks were detected in the year 2023, but certain compounds were highlighted, so that they should receive more attention, such as Norovirus and Toxin T-2, as they could become more significant problem areas.
