This report was carried out within the scope of the curricular unit “Curricular Internship” of the Master's course in Biotechnology and Food Innovation at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica do Porto. The work carried out consisted in the evaluation of a film based on Polyolefins with an EVOH barrier as a packaging material for a dairy product. The motivations for this study focus on the importance of following current trends, given the consumers are increasingly informed and concerned about the environment and sustainability of the products they consume. CSR policies – Corporate Social Responsibility – are today a trend that all companies must join and follow, under penalty of failing to respond to the interests of consumers. The project in question evaluated the possibility of this new material (Assay) replacing the usual material (Reference), a plastic mixture based on a Polyester (PET), a Polyolefin (PE) and PVdC to facilitate the recyclability of this packaging. That is, since the reference material is a mixture of different plastics, recyclability is compromised due to the complex process that is to recycle mixtures of different plastics with very variable characteristics. The new material, being a plastic film based only on Polyolefins and EVOH (
