Abstract

The aging process assumes great prominence since the population is ageing more and more. In order to make the elderly more participatory and dynamic, were conducted several studies on the thematic of active ageing. It is in this vision that the project Mais Aldeia Pedagógica de Portela arises, with the main objective of realizing how a community project can promote the participation of the elderly in the communities, as well reduce the isolation, contributing to an active ageing. This project had as its mission to develop different activities, promoting the contact between institutionalized elderly of several institutions of Bragança and elderly living in an isolated village, namely the village of Portela - Bragança. As a way of evaluating the impact of this project, we used a qualitative approach, with a descriptive exploratory basis, where semi-structured interviews were conducted whose script was created for this purpose. This project was constituted by six participants (four elderly and two project managers). The main results point to an effective implementation of this project, being notorious a decrease in isolation and an increase not only in social participation but also in physical and psychological well-being.
