INTRODUCTION: A person with advanced training and limited prognosis lives a multidimensional and dynamic experience of severe stress. Or emotional discomfort experienced by people in life will be able to unleash ourselves, a state of high sufriment that will be able to drain your resources and how it will be able to trigger refractory symptoms. Also, the assessment of emotional ill-being must be a priority, in order to identify and intervene early on two people who need, in order to do so, are necessary to have proven validation and reliability instruments. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This is the presentation of the DME language validation process for the Portuguese language of Portugal, for which authorization was requested from the original author of the Emotional Distress Detection Questionnaire. RESULTS: The original instrument is translated into the Portugueselanguage of Portugal, obtaining conceptual and semantic equivalence. Aversion of the instrument is built ready to be used in the following phases of the validation process. CONCLUSION: At the conclusion of the present study, a version of DME is obtained with linguistic and semantic equivalence, to be subject to psychometric validation in the later phase.
