With this report it is intended to expound the adopted procedures towards the creation of a database with relevant information about new and current service suppliers of a retail company, as well as procedures that allowed to implement an assessment methodology of their selection potential. After a preliminary analysis of the literature on the selection and evaluation of suppliers, it was noticed that for an appropriate selection process it is necessary to collect information about a set of relevant characteristics of the supplier. Only in this way it is possible to consistently evaluate suppliers, by taking into account the operational needs and the specific requirements of the company. In order to collect information regarding suppliers a questionnaire was administered to them. After that, collected data were uploaded on a database that was developed within the internship at the company. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was then used to construct an aggregate or composite indicator used to assist in the evaluation and selection of potential of service suppliers. The collected data, combined with the definition of criteria and assignment of specific weights by type of service in the DEA model, allowed a more accurate analysis and evaluation of potential selection and future hiring. Some potential suppliers for selection were identified – those who obtained high performance scores – as well as suppliers who were unable to meet the specific needs and requirements.
