The political and social context changes continuously and, in many cases, accelerated. This fact, arising from globalization, requires new management models on the part of educational institutions, taking on the challenge of identifying methods and programs that are capable of generating good results in the teaching and learning process, thus contributing to the process of formation of the student. The teacher / tutor / facilitator has an important role in the learning process, as long as it provides the student with opportunities for the reconstruction of socially produced knowledge. The assessment occupies an essential space in the set of pedagogical practices applied to the educational process, since it allows those involved with information about reality and favoring decision-making, in the sense of effectively overcoming difficulties, with consequent guarantee of learning. It is a quantitative and qualitative research, of a descriptive and transversal character, with the general objective of investigating the evaluative processes adopted by the technical training schools of young people and adults, comparing these processes in teaching with traditional methodology and active methodology. The study scenario took place in two technical training schools in the field of nursing, one using the traditional teaching method, and the other, teaching using an active methodology. The data were collected through a structured instrument and made available on Google Forms, which allowed the interviewer to conduct data collection through the interview, so that the necessary information about the evaluation processes was obtained. The sample consisted of 18 people, who were coordinators, teachers / facilitators and students. It was concluded that formative assessment is still very confused with the act of assigning grades by teachers and the practice of feedback to improve student learning is still underutilized.
