Abstract

Watching television has never been so easy, thus causing a change in viewing habits, resulting in a new behavioral phenomenon: binge-watching, wich consists of intensively and consecutively watching several episodes of the same television program in the same session. The dark triad of personality consists of three overlapping but distinct personality traits: Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. As fare as we are aware, there are no studies on this relationship, wich is why it is important to carry it out. This study aims to analise the relation between binge-watching and dark triad of personality. This is a quantitative, crosssectional, correlational and descriptive study and, in order to explore the relation between the variables, the BWES (Binge-Watching Engagement and Symptoms) scale and the DTDD (Dark Triad Dirty Dozen) were used. It was concluded that binge-watching is associated with the dark triad of personality, in all its dimensions, as well as being more frequente in males and at earlier ages. This study supports the relationship between binge-watching and the black personality triad, as well as supporting that younger individuals have higher levels of binge-watching.
