Abstract

The current work occurred in sequence of a traineeship held at the Clinical Centre of the Medico-Social Assistance Services (SAMS) of the South and Islands Bank Clerk Trade Union (SBSI), concretely on the Vaccination Service on the scope of Nursing Master’s degree with Specialization in Community Nursing. In the last decades, the vaccines contributed to improve the Public Health all over the world, although are still necessary to persevere in developing an enlarged vaccination system for everyone in the entire world. This work has as reference the Nola Pender theory model, which developed in her book “Health Promotion in Nursing Practice” (1982) the idea that the promotion of an optimum health replaces the disease prevention. One of the main premises of the Nola Pender theory is that health, as a high level positive state, assumes itself as a goal for which everyone try hard to achieve. For the situation diagnosis we chose the exploratory – explanatory study model. The goals to achieve were: evaluation of the PNV technical guidelines implementation, and touching people to the importance of an information system among different services. The data collection was the direct annotation recurring to a pair of tools – the observation grid – making notes of the practice frequency taken over by the Service nurses on the assistance to each patient and a checklist to evaluate the organization. The Vaccination health professional universe was composed by the three nurses of the Vaccination Service. Basing in the presented results on the situation diagnosis, we identified a set of needs that were ordered to establish priorities concerning the eventual intervention: Supporting Manual on Nursing Practice in Vaccination, Temperature Registration Sheet, and Registration Sheet for Information Exchange among Services. This work encouraged a huge wealth on a personal and professional level contributing to a better orientation in good practices for nurses and nursing students as well of the basic level or those in the speciality traineeship, health process management and research practices
