Galp is a portuguese integrated energy player that carries out activities in four business segments: Exploration & Production, Midstream; Commercial and, recently, Renewables and New Businesses.Given the challenges being posed to the Oil&Gas industry, motivated by the loss of relevance of fossil energies and by the increasing weight of clean energy sources, the company aims to adapt itself to the energy transition, re-defining its strategy. Therefore, Galp decided to enter in the renewables business, with strong focus on Solar PV, and defined a target of 10GW of renewables’ installed capacity by 2030. This dissertation aims to design a Business Plan for Galp for this new business opportunity divided on three main sections: internal and external analysis (company and market), strategy definition and the financials associated.A benchmarking analysis, focused on companies from the Oil&Gas and Utilities’ segments, made it possible to analyze the best practices to provide recommendations for Galp’s entry in solar PV market in a sustainable and profitable way. The conclusions of this dissertation highlight the importance of the scale in this market and the ways of differentiation of Oil&Gas companies, which are taking advantage of being integrated companies and complementing renewables portfolios with other energy sources and technologies to generate synergies and exploit the maximum value. The need to define more ambitious investment and capacity targets, in order to succeed in a highly competitive market and grant the best in-class assets is also a crucial step.
