[email protected] is the result of an exploratory approach to Asian Studies, covering the development of JLL human resource skills in intercultural business communication. Several notes have been made for a future guide for adding to and optimizing the best communication practices with Chinese investors. The state of the art on Intercultural Business Communication and its Competences Models has been included. This project is justified by the reviewed literature on the relevance of Portugal-China business relations and motivated by the increased Chinese demand for real estate, which followed the start of the Golden Visa programme in 2012. The period selected for the analysis (2012-2014) corresponds to the introduction of the government measure that modified the immigration law towards the achievement of an external investment inflow also representing an expansion opportunity both for the sector and for JLL. A mixed research methodology, primarily qualitative, was used. This included interviews, questionnaires and press content analyses and considered as well several JLL’s internal and external corporate communication materials. JLL’s analysis of its relationship with its Chinese GV clients has brought a proposal for the reinforcement and development of intercultural business communication competences, according to Darla K. Deardorff’s model (2006), the one considered the most suitable of all the models observed in this case.
