Abstract

This thesis has been prepared for a the Master’s Degree in Science Education, specializing in Social Pedagogy, taught by the Faculty of Education and Psychology (EFF) Portuguese Catholic University (UCP). The analysis and reflection of personal, social and professional experiences occurred in social pedagogic contexts and in spaces of active citizenship, is the reference and basis for this document. Its aim is to highlight Education as a tool for the promotion and awareness of new citizenships - Social and Sustainable Citizenship and Collaborative Citizenship. Simultaneously focusing on their positive contribution in the present social situation. As a methodological approach I use the theoretical framework of Social Pedagogy and also recognize conceptual approaches adopted by authors in the area of Education and Pedagogy. Since Social Pedagogy is considered a social science which engages socio education practice in its various dimensions, it was possible to use a rational and conceptual multidimensional reality with humane and supportive characteristics. This approach led therefore to the encounter of the logics of practical wisdom, fundamental to the progression of the human beings in a personal and professional level.
