The aging population is one of the great challenges of the 21st century. Along with changes in the families’ structures, and with the loss of functionality and functions that were previously provided by the family, one of the population groups that has become more vulnerable are the elderly. The present work explores the concept of Ageing in place and has its object of study the description of Coliving as an alternative form of residence for the present times, considering the new forms of social relationship and the social benefits that this housing alternative can add. Through a case study methodology, three Coliving experiences under development in Portugal are analyzed. For the characterization of each case, interviews were done with the technical directors, as well as with some residents. Although the services presented were not created from the beginning and by the initiative of the members, but rather being proposed and managed by social organizations, they shown to be available alternatives for residential solutions for older people with autonomy and they recognize it as an added value for a healthy aging process in the community and to combat social isolation.
