Having in mind the importance of the Government Health Institutions Ethics Committees in Portugal (CES) and aiming to promote bigger visibility and accessibility of those Committees, this study shares with the public, patients and, in particular, health professionals, how visible and accessible Ethics Committees are on the respective Institution’ website. Between March and July 2018, this study measured the emphasis given to Ethics Committees on those Institutions’ own websites, as well as the content provided by those Ethics Committees via their subdomains within those same websites. After a bioethics reflection, and with the main objective of reducing the disadvantages found, guidelines and alternative options are proposed. Within the current scenario, and with this proposal, we expect to lead to better conditions for the development of these Committees’ activity. Portuguese CES have a history that deserves to be told, shared and cherished. This history contains experiences, memories and human contributions packed with ethics and bioethics meaning. By acknowledging their past and present, we hope to anticipate a future where they can capitalize on all of their potential. As a Society, its essential that we develop actions with ethics at heart, so that Portuguese CES can practice in full leading to an invaluable return to Society itself. Let us be surprised… peacefully and with hope…
