Abstract

The main goal of the present study is to answer to the question referring to how the relationship between the founder and the employee in technology-based startups have been studied on literature. To do so, a systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted, and with the SLR protocol, 14 articles were chosen and analyzed. Having in mind the specific characteristics the technology-based startups characteristics, the results show some important factors in establishing a healthy relationship between the two intervenient, the employee and the founder, namely the fact that it is an informal relationship, the implementation of strategies that promotes informal relations and the focus on work-life balancebeing those, influential for the employee’s well-being and development. Moreover, the company’s environment, the culture and the rewards and incentives given to the employees are also key factors for the development of a healthy relationship between the founder and the employee of startup companies.
