Abstract

The behaviors with the environment have increasingly emerged as an essential premise in the protection of planet Earth. Thus, in order to cope with the scarcity of validated instruments adapted to the Portuguese context and to the younger age groups, from five to ten years, this study aimed to contribute to the adaptation of the Questionnaire of Pro-Environmental Behaviors (QCPA) with parents of children attending preschool education or the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. Thus, through a sample of 127 participants, 63 (49.6%) males and 64 (50.4%) females between 5 and 10 years of age (M = 5.30; SD = 1.51), data were collected to contribute to the adaptation of the QCPA. Cronbach's alpha value obtained for the one-dimensional structure demonstrates which instrument has a reasonable fidelity. Through the analysis of differences, for gender and year of schooling, the tstudent and ANOVA tests were performed, respectively, where no significant differences were found. In conclusion, we were able to contribute data to the adaptation of the QCPA and also the knowledge of this population in the face of their behaviors in favor of nature, which in the national context is not addressed.
