This report is part of the Master's Degree in Nursing with Specialisation in Medical-Surgical Nursing in Critical Care. It aims to demonstrate the path taken by describing and analysing the situations experienced and the activities developed in the context of clinical practice, in which I acquired and developed competencies as a specialist nurse, within the scope of the Specific Competencies of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing, as well as illustrate the Master's Competencies. The internship was carried out in an Intensive Care Medicine Service, and was developed in several Intensive Care Units inherent to the service. At the same time, in order to meet the Master's competencies, a Scoping Review was developed, with the theme "Difficulties nurses experience in the communication of bad news". Through its completion and sharing in the internship context and at the 5th International Seminar of the Master's Degree in Nursing, it contributed to improving the provision of nursing care regarding the communication of bad news to critically ill patients and their families, thus promoting the importance of research in nursing.
