This study aims to assess knowledge, attitudes and behaviors on HIV / AIDS in women, family planning consultation users the ACES Alto Ave. The sample consists of 767 aged 18 to 64 years. The instruments used were: sociodemographic questionnaire, Questionnaire of Self-efficacy specific, Self-efficacy General Scale, Scale knowledge about the transmission and HIV prevention, attitudes and other behaviors related to AIDS, Practices Scale Current and Barriers Questionnaire. The results show that women from rural areas are more abstainers, have higher absence of risk perception, lower self-efficacy in the negotiation, more barriers and less preparatory safe behaviors. Women with more self-efficacy in the negotiation and higher risk perception in partner have more protective behaviors. And women with lower perception of risk and are more socio-cognitive barriers have more risk behaviors. It was found that the preparatory safe behaviors predict the current protective behavior. Thus, the results show that it is essential to control variables such as the environment where they live in order to understand the behavior of women. For this reason, the creation of intervention programs is essential to motivate women to have preparatory safe behaviors.
