Providing quality care requires a demanding awareness of that quality. Throughout this academic path, and taking into account the pandemic situation we live in, caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 (determining the disease COVID-19), the understanding of our own emotions and those of others, as well as the ability to use their perceptions to manage health disease became relevant in maintaining imbalance. In this context, the Emotional Intelligence proved to be an essential tool to overcome all situations, having as its central objective the humanized care and well-being of the patient in order to pay care services with higher quality. This report is part of the Master’s Degree in Nursing with Specialization in Medical Surgical Nursing in the strand of the Person in Critical Situation, from the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Its main purpose is to describe the experiences lived, present the activities developed and the observed situations which can be improved, and organize strategies in order to solve obstacles, through a descriptive methodology and a critical-reflexive analysis, demonstrating the learning and the specialized skills acquired , that lead to an improvement in the quality of the care provided. Throughout this report I will develop certain areas, namely, the training area; the care management; the provision of direct specialized care to the Person in Critical Situation and Family and the investigation area. Therefore, this report is essentially structured in two chapters. In the first chapter, is developed a scooping review with the theme “Factors that influence Nurses’ adherence to Good Clinical Practice”. The second chapter presents a reflection and a critical analysis of the path taken during the internship in different contexts of clinical practice, which allowed the development of fundamental skills of the specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing in the strand of the Person in Critical Situation and Family. This Chapter is divided into 2 sub-chapters, namely, “Surveillance and Clinical Decision”, that has been accredited by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the “Final Internship and report”, which is divided into three Modules: Module I - carried out at the Emergency Room (ER); Module II - held at the Harvest and Transplant Coordinator Office and the Module III - held at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
