Abstract
According to the World Health Organization, about 10 million people are diagnosed with tuberculosis every year and, although it is a preventable and curable disease, this infection is one of the leading causes of death worldwide (WHO, 2022). One of the most listed reasons for non-adherence to treatment of tuberculosis is the difficulty of accessing health services, associated with low socioeconomic levels of many users with this disease (Adisa, et al., 2021).This intervention project was developed in a Public Health Unit of the metropolitan area of Lisbon. It follows the guidelines of the Health Planning Methodology, described by Imperatori and Giraldes (1993) and Tavares (1990), and is supported from the theoretical point of view of Nursing in the Health Promotion Model of Nola Pender. The diagnosis of the situation identified the high incidence rate of tuberculosis as a priority problem, and in this sense, all stages of the Health Planning were carried out with the purpose of creating the nursing consultation with relevance to the demonstration of the importance of the nurse in the approach to the user with tuberculosis for a treatment of
proximity and adherence to treatment. The present project "Nursing Consultation in the Center for Pneumological Diagnosis: A Community Nursing Intervention", inserted into a need already felt by the team from Public Health Unit, the implementation of this consultation in the respective group of health
centers, so as to respond to the accessibility and treatment of the population concerned in the municipality. The strategies used for the implementation of the project includes the review of the literature for the mapping of the necessary resources, the guidelines and tools to support the nursing consultation, and also, the visit to a Center for Pneumological Diagnosis to know its full functioning. The activity indicators proves that the implementation of the project was successful, and the impact indicators will be evaluated within medium and long term with the systematic implementation of nursing consultations and with the variation of the incidence rate of tuberculosis in the municipality.
