The purpose of the present study is to know alcohol consumption and its relationship with the psychological experience of pregnancy in portuguese pregnant women of the north of Portugal. For this study, we used 134 pregnant women with age range between 17 and 41 years old. Data was collected in public and private health centers and in causal situations. The instruments used were Pregnancy and Motherhood Attitude Scale (EAGM) and Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test – AUDIT. Main results show that 15.7% of our group reveals alcohol consumption during pregnancy. We also found negativa correlations marginally significant between the consumption of alcohol and the subscales “The Imagined Child” and “Pregnancy as a Change/Personal Growth Factor”. This study points out the need of continuation of this type of investigation in order to better understand the relationship of pregnancy and alcohol consumption.
