The purpose of the present study is to know alcohol consumption patterns in pregnant women and realize their relationship with the psychological experience of pregnancy. This study was developed in a local primary healthcare unit of the north of Portugal, in community care units (CCU), where childbirth preparation courses are performed. Initially, it was intended to know consumption patterns and psychological experiences characteristics and then relate them. For this exploratory study, we used 52 pregnant woman aged between 17 and 40 years. The instruments used for data collection were pregnancy and Motherhood Attitude Scale (EAGM) and Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT). Regarding to AUDIT, the main results show some concern, although the percentage of pregnant women who consume alcohol is low (4%). These results are not coincident with the european data, nor the investigator’s previous studies, suggesting the need to increase the sample. In this study It wasn´t found any relationship between alcohol consumption during pregnancy and its psychological experience.
