Contributo do enfermeiro especialista em saúde infantil e pediátrica na promoção de estilos de vida saudáveis

Abstract

The present report written and achieved in the ambit of the Master’s Degree in Nursing concerning the area of the specialization in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing at the Portuguese Catholic University, aims at describing and analysing in a critical - reflective way, the development and acquisition of the defined skills by “Order of Nurses” and acquired during the practices. It was established as the central subject-matter the promotion of the child's health with the focus of attention in the healthy lifestyles. Evoking the methodology of the project of work as overall and as cross-cutting objectives to the practices, I defined the development of the skills of the Specialist Nurse in Childish and Pediatrics Health, emphasizing the promotion of healthy lifestyles in the different contexts of health caring. The contribution of the nurses to adopt healthy lifestyles and improve the health of the paediatric population by means of consolidated and accurate interventions, in the Health Promotion and education is more and more relevant. The adoption of healthy habits in childhood tends to continue in adulthood. In this perspective, the implementation of the promotion programmes of the health during the first years of one's life is considered fundamental for the benefit of the health and has implications which will extend for a long date. The conceptual orientation, that sustained the formative experience, was Nola Pender’s. Health Promotion model. So that the objectives could be attained, several activities were held along the different contexts of the practices, such as the holding of a training session, concerning domestic accidents in the first year of life in the neonatal unit, the production of a norm, of sectorial procedure, about childish security, during the first four years of children's life in the pediatric emergency unit, and the production of an informative chart concerning the promotion of the strategies for a healthy diet in the childhood in the pediatric medicine hospitalization. In addition to these activities it is worth mentioning that another activity was held, considering its importance for the acquisition of master skills, that is, the participation in the 5th International Seminar off the Master’s Degree in Nursing, Specialized Nursing: “One Voice for Humanization”, with the presentation of a scientific poster. With the aim of mapping the scientific evidence about this subject, it was elaborated a scoping review: nursing interventions to promote the healthy lifestyle focused on the child at school age and on the parents in the education ”context” to the health. Along this way many unforseen situations arose, unexpected experiences, professional improvement as well as personal improvement with the demand of adapting and rebuilding the know-how to the circunstances and to get further knowledge, which allowed me to develop skills at the research level, providing basic knowledge, to carry out practice with excellence based on scientific research.
