This work has the theme the "reflective and educational contribution on learning the instrument and music theory in Specialized Music Education in Portugal". The overall objective is to consolidate the discipline of musical education, with regard to music theory, as well as its relationship with the discipline Instrument. More specifically, the objective is focused on the need of the skills that students must acquire and apply at the end of the 2nd degree of Musical Training, and if they are adjusted to the needs of students required in instrument lessons. Methodologically, this research followed a quantitative research focused on a case study. The techniques used for data collection were the documental study the instrument repertoire - violin and musical training programs and instrument and questionnaire surveys performed to CCM teachers in those disciplines. The findings of this empirical study are intended to provide a contribution to the articulation of the two disciplines, as well as demonstrate their importance to arouse greater interest on the part of students to music theory. At the end, this research confirmed the importance of coordination of these disciplines to the good results in learning and the excellent development in the global education of students.
