Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease and a major Public Health problem worldwide, including Portugal. Until the COVID-19 Pandemic, TB was the leading cause of death in a single infectious agent, above the Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS). It is a preventable and treatable disease. The most appropriate strategies in TB control are early identification and adequate treatment of TB cases to prevent transmission in the community and avoid the emergence of resistant forms. Drug adherence in TB treatment is a major challenge for health professionals, especially nurses, since non-adherence or ineffective treatment management is a major Public Health problem, reflecting an increase in the incidence and prevalence of cases of the disease. The community intervention project took place at the Pneumological Diagnostic Center (CDP) of Setúbal. Its intervention focus was the promotion of adherence to TB treatment. It was based on Tavares's (1990) Health Planning methodology and the theoretical framework of Nola Pender's Health Promotion model. In the diagnosis of the situation, we used the Brainstorming technique to collect information. The diagnoses were prioritized through the analysis grid method, and the following priority intervention was identified: committed attitude of the nursing group towards the person undergoing TB treatment due to the lack of nursing records on treatment adherence. The target population was the nurses of the CDP. The course allowed for the acquisition of skills as a nurse specialist in Community and Public Health Nursing and as a master.
