Abstract

Autism (also known as Kanner’s syndrome or childhood autism) is a disorder of human development that has been studied by science for six decades, but over which, within the realm of science, disagreements and unanswered questions still remain. From the Greek "autos" meaning "own", and the suffix "ism", which refers to an idea or state of guidance, the noun indicates autism, "broad sense", a condition or state of someone who has a tendency to alienation of external reality, along with an attitude of constant concentration in itself. Nowadays, autism is considered to be a Development Global Disorder or a Development Persuasive Disorder, revealing itself, on a social level, through dysfunctions in the communication relationship; on an individual level, through emotional shortcomings and imaginative play, in addition to the completion of a number of restricted and repetitive activities. Over the years, the question of relations between parents and teachers has been the subject of discussion by many scholars in education, raising disputes. This study concluded that parental involvement with schools has multiple benefits. This collaboration is effective for the family, the family member with autism and for professionals involved in the educational process.
